IBM中国开发中心（IBM China Development Lab，CDL）成立于1999年，隶属IBM软件部，始终如一地为中国客户提供满足本土需要的软件、硬件产品、技术和解决方案。作为IBM全球软件资源在中国的窗口，CDL把全球先进技术引入中国，为中国软件产业与世界的交流搭建桥梁。在今日的创新时代，CDL将致力于成为协助中国IT产业创新的推动者，协助客户实现业务创新的技术后盾，以及中国企业业务模式转型的人才培训中心和提供高价值服务的平台。CDL希望通过开放的策略,与业界、合作伙伴和用户共同分享CDL的人才资源、技术资源、研发资源,通过给用户提供更高的价值和对中国IT社区的大力支持,成为协助中国企业、IT厂商和整个行业实现协作创新的最强有力的伙伴。
8年来，CDL不断吸引全球最优秀的科技和管理人才加入, 并积极致力于同本土合作伙伴共同建设团队。目前CDL在北京，上海，台北分别设址，研发队伍从八年前的一百多位软件工程师增至今天的3000多位，年平均成长速度超过50％。目前CDL已迅速成长为跨国公司在中国最大规模的软件开发中心，跃居IBM全球五大软件开发实验室之一。IBM在中国庞大的资金投入，人性化的管理方式， 以及对人才方面的巨大投资，对人力资本的极度重视，使中国开发中心拥有一支经验丰富，训练有素的团队。
自CDL在中国成立之初，就把创新作为根本的追求，在看到实际需求的同时，应用真正的研究、思考等新的先进技术去配合，并把这些创新不断带到客户面前。CDL与全世界同步发展多领域产品。正在为包括Tivoli、WebSphere、Lotus、Rational、DB2 Information management 在内的所有IBM软件核心产品的研究和开发做出卓越贡献。并在WebSphere产品系列、普及运算、Lotus Workplace Client技术及Linux系统方面取得非凡的成就，被视为IBM全球产品的开发重点。中国软件开发中心除继续贯彻原有产品系列的开发外，又成立了中国系统与科技实验室和台湾系统与科技实验室，以支持硬件技术的开发。并基于国内市场的快速成长，履行协助IBM软件部及全球服务部为客户提供随需应变的解决方案的承诺，CDL在近几年分别成立了LBS，SOA设计中心和SOA解决方案中心。LBS主要致力于客户培训，技能传授和提供解决方案。SOA则主要是实现客户运营模式的随需应变，同时研发出可再次利用的SOA部件。除了为全世界的客户创造价值以外，SOA还致力于研发集成框架和行业解决方案模板，并在新技术孵化器项目的高级研究方面取得了不错的成果。同时，为了提高中国开发实验室在全球的技术领先性，增强对全球市场的影响力，CDL在2006年八月成立了中国技术学院。中国技术学院协助建立与全球各大实验室之间的技术交流，成为IBM全球研究和开发实验室之间的桥梁，并将IBM最新的研究成果转化到新产品的研发中去。最近，CDL又成立了SWG L2 Support部门，针对软件产品问题提供售后技术支持，并为我们的客户提供高效快速的服务以提高客户满意度。
在项目管理上，CDL亦采用IBM全球统一标准的开发流程。从客户需求、架构世界、产品开发、品质测试至最后的产品发布与维修等过程，均使全体工程师能充分参与、了解及积累经验，带动协办厂商的整体开发能力，提高中国软件开发业的整体水平。

Founded in 1999, China Development Lab (CDL) is affiliated to IBM Software Group. It dedicates itself to providing Chinese customers with software and hardware products, technologies and solutions on demand of the local requirements. As the communication bridge connecting China software industry to the world, CDL brings in advanced technologies from the world and share with China software industry. In the era of innovation, CDL endeavors to fulfill its promise to be the innovator to China IT industry innovation, technology supporter to customer business innovation, human resource education center to business model transformation, and platform to provide value added services. Through its open policy, that is to share its resources in areas of human resource, technology and research, CDL demonstrates its commitment to be the partner of Chinese customer innovation.
During the past 8 years, CDL has continuously attracted excellent technical and management talents from all over the world and made great efforts to build teams together with native cooperation partners. At present, CDL is based in Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei respectively. The number of employees working in the core R&D teams of CDL has grown from 100 plus at the very beginning to over 3000 today, which makes CDL become the biggest software development center of multinational corporations in China and one of the five biggest development labs of IBM in the world.
CDL has treated innovation as its essential pursuit from the very beginning of its foundation in China. At the same timewhile facing actual demands, it applies the latest advanced technologies to research and innovation and presents these innovations before the customers continuously. CDL develops multi-field products synchronously with the whole world. It has made great contribution to the research and development of all IBM software core products including WebSphere, Lotus Workplace Client technology and Linux system. Therefore, CDL is regarded as one of the key labs of IBM global products development of existing product series. CDL has also established China Systems and Technology Lab and Taiwan Systems & Technology Laboratory. To further enhance CDL’s customer commitment, Lab Based Services，the China SOA (Services-Oriented Architecture) Centers and the China SOA Solution Centers were founded in recent years, focusing on helping customers with education, skills improvement, solution development, and transforming customers' business to an on-demand model through SOA as well as developing reusable SOA assets. As a bridge between research and development, identifying emerging technologies and driving incubation of these efforts into product plans, China Emerging Technology Institute （CETI） was established in August 2006 with the goal of encouraging more CDL participation in the global leadership, increasing CDL impact to global business initiatives, and establishing peer relationships with the world wide labs. Recently CDL formed the SWG L2 organization as well to provide post-sale technical support on complex product issues and world-class support quality and quick response time to improve Customer Satisfaction.
With the rapid growth of China’s domestic market, CDL will further launch into various product development and provide on demand solutions, in addition to keeping carrying out the development of existing product series. Facing the new challenges and opportunities, IBM China Development Lab, together with China’s many business partners and customers, will inaugurate a brand new Collaborative Innovation Era and create a splendent future of the information industry!
